Here’s Why I Choose WordPress for My Online Success
WordPress is your best choice for online success. It is the boss when it comes to blogging platforms. Even my own websites and blogs are built with the WordPress platform.
It’s Free, Super Easy to Set Up and it is Secure.
Even though WordPress is free, there are some expenses you will have if you want to be a successful online business owner.
- Expect to pay for a great domain that defines what you do, or who you are to your potential customers.
- Expect to pay for hosting, which is where your website or blog will be housed.
Expect to pay for marketing if you want traffic to your website.
There’s No Rich Quick Scheme Here
Sorry to break it to you 🙂 if you have heard blogging is an easy way to get rich fast, the truth is blogging takes time and a consent effort.
Expect to treat your website or blog like a business. While it can be enjoyable, having a blog that creates income will take consistent effort, you will need to have a plan, stay focused on your plan, and following through with your plan.
With WordPress you will have hundreds of free themes and plugins that add more functionality to your blog, from contact and subscribe boxes to plugins that improve blog performance and more.
WordPress is always updating their software and keeping everything sound and secure, so there’s rarely a worry of having your blog come under hacking attacks.
There Is More to Blogging Than Technical Stuff
The majority of my site is dedicated to how to be successful at WordPress, and what WordPress can offer you as you consider having an online website or blog. Feel free to check out the following articles to be successful at setting up your WordPress site.
In this article, while I will share technical aspects of setting up your online blog for success, I also feel it is important to cover a few points about blogging that are not often covered, but important to follow if you want success online.
WordPress Steps to Online Success #1
Choose A Good Name for Your Website
Let Your Website Name Reflect Your Topic
Before you go right out to GoDaddy.com and buy your domain name (your url, website name or address.) You will want to ask yourself a couple of questions.
1.What are you going to talk about on your website?
2. What product or services are you going to sell on your website?
3. Who Am I, as I represent my product or service on my website?
4. Who is my target audience, or who am I talking to as I write and talk about my product or service?
Answering these questions may help you come up with ideas regarding your website name.
- Consider using your business name
- Consider using your personal name
- Consider using your product name

Do Your Research
However you will want to use the Google Adword Planner, or Jaxxy to do some keyword research before continuing on with buying your domain.
WordPress Steps to Online Success #3
Find Your Brand & Style
Being yourself when you are writing your blog is important to be successful online. However, it is important to make some branding decisions before continuing on.
- Are you an individual or a company?
- Do you have a logo and color scheme?
Who Is Reading This Anyway?
As I mentioned above it is important to know who your target audience is, and the demographics of your products or service users. For example, if you offer fashion tips for seniors, you will want to talk the way they do. You would not use slang or techie hip language. Some Internet marketers have been known to make up an actual character that represents their audience, and as they are writing their blog, they visualize speaking to them. When designing your site, you will want to include photos of happy seniors dressed in the type of clothes you are selling. You will want the entire style of your website to bring comfort so they want to stay on your site and buy your products
The Voice Your Readers Are Hearing
Knowing who you are speaking to on your website or blog is important, but it is also important to establish the way you speak as the author and creator of your blog. A few things to keep in mind as you establish your voice are:
- The goal of the site, what are you trying to teach or sell.
- Your audience.
- It is important to establish yourself as an expert.
Last, what is the action that you want your reader to do when they visit your site?
Do you want your visitor to buy your product right away, get your newsletter, or just get more information.
The action you want them to take will determine on how you speak to them.

Make A Plan
As your own boss, you will have to decide when you want to work and when you want to play. However, you will also have to decide how fast you want to grow your blog according to the goals you have.
WordPress Steps to Online Success #4
Time To Get Started
Now it’s time to begin creating content for your blog. When you first start out, I recommend publishing new articles at least 3 times per week. But don’t be sloppy about it, take your time and craft excellent blog posts that have impact, speak to your audience and speak in your voice.
Focusing On Your Goals Is Important
Are you ready to focus on your goals? If you are, but are still not feeling confident about your knowledge of WordPress, don’t worry, I can help.
